There is an abundance of activities to help you enjoy your stay in the Park. Each suggestion is different. There is something for everyone! There are eight beaches and an island on Waskesiu Lake to explore:

  • Main Beach- large swimming area
  • Ski Beach- great day use beach
  • Beaverglen Beach- a short walk from the campground
  • Point View- located just past the Waskesiu Marina
  • Birch Bay- sheltered kitchens and large swimming area
  • South Bay- on Narrows Road
  • Trippes Beach- on Narrows Road
  • Paignton Beach- A peninsula Beach on the Narrows Road, sheltered kitchens
  • King’s Island- excellent day use island

The townsite and surrounding area provides great facilities for various sports activities:

  • Waskesiu Lake Marina- provides launch permits and boat/motor, canoe and kayak rentals for the Lake
  • Narrows Marina- located at the end of the Narrows Road, boat/motor, canoe and kayak rentals and permits
  • Hanging Heart Lakes Marina- boat/motor, canoe and kayak rentals and launch permits for Crean Lake available
  • Slo-pitch Diamond- located in the townsite. Get a group together and play ball!!
  • Horse Shoe Pitch- contact the Chamber of Commerce Office for horse shoe rentals
  • Tennis Courts-six tennis courts can be booked daily at the Chamber Office
  • Tennis Lessons- this is the 9th season of lessons, Certified Instructor, weekly junior lessons are available in July and August, private lessons can be requested for all ages, visit the Chamber Office for more details.
  • Basketball- the Chamber Office has two outdoor basketball courts and a Sport Court for rent
  • Beach Volleyball- two courts are located on the Main Beach
  • Golf lessons- contact the Waskesiu Golf Course for Junior Lessons and Private Instruction
  • Lawn Bowling- adjacent to the tennis courts

The Park has many attractions to visit including:

  • Twin ParkTheatres- showing the latest releases nightly and matinees on rainy days
  • Neo Watin Paddlewheeler- take one of the daily tours on Waskesiu Lake in July and August
  • Nature Centre- drop in to see interactive exhibits, demonstrations, theatre and the Friends of the Park Bookshop. Ask for a copy of the Activity Schedule with descriptions of all interpretive activities and hikes
  • Beaverglen Interpretive Theatre- featuring presentations throughout the summer
  • Information Centre- visit the Info Centre (located in the Administration Building) to find out about fishing, camping, Park fees, backcountry permits, group services and facilities for visitors with disabilities

Other activities to explore:

  • Sheltered kitchens behind Main Beach to enjoy lunch or dinner
  • Star gaze at night or look for the glorious Northern Lights
  • Breakfast snacks and other baked goods available at the three grocery stores
  • Ice Cream - available at many locations within the townsite
  • Visit the Waskesiu Library
  • Try the famous butter tarts at the Tenth Hole of the Waskesiu Golf Course
  • Watch the magnificent sunsets from Main Beach
  • Bird watching- there are over 230 species- including loons, pelicans, eagles and herons...
  • Breakwater walk- check out the Marina and townsite breakwaters
  • Try climbing the townsite rock
  • Things to do on a rainy day in Waskesiu
  • Visit the Nature Centre
  • Put on your raingear and take a hike, many of the trails offer some protection from the rain
  • Rent a movie and VCR from one of the local stores
  • Go shopping, the Waskesiu town site has a wide variety of shops to choose from
  • Have a family barbeque in one of the covered cook shelters. There are several in the town site and many of the beaches around the lake also have cook shelters
  • Go fishing. Diehard fisherman don’t mind a little rain, and the fish don’t care either!
  • Take a drive, there are many new discoveries waiting to be explored within minutes of Waskesiu.
  • Read a book, the Waskesiu library has a great selection of reading materials for all ages
  • Jump in the lake and go for a swim. Rain or shine, you’re still getting wet!
  • Visit the ducks at the Hanging Heart Lakes, just be careful not to frighten them
